Há tempos a discussão sobre o projeto célula-tronco vêm ocupando vários espaços.
É uma discussão que invade o terreno religioso e por conseqüência, estaciona, quando na verdade, deveria avançar em nome da ciência.
Tenho a compreensão de que não somos deuses para ditarmos regras de existência ou mesmo temos direito de interferir no Karma de um ser.
Porem, Deus nos dá a inteligência e a capacidade de avançar em nossos conhecimentos, justamente para nos dar mais chances de lutar pelo bem estar dos nossos semelhantes. Pelo menos assim deveria ser.
Pensar que é errado fazer uso de embriões humanos que serão descartados, para pesquisa de cura de doenças é, no mínimo, ridículo.
Hoje, Helio Aguinaga (membro da Academia Nacional de Medicina), afirmou num artigo para o jornal O Globo, “que as pesquisas cientificas mostram que até o 14º dia de fertilização não há sinal de diferenciação celular na gênese de órgão humano, tratando-se de aglomerado celular. …. não há vestígios de sistema nervoso…”
Ele ainda escreve, que “Se considerar a morte cerebral é avaliação legal e moral para se usar órgãos para transplante, por que não usar o mesmo critério no emprego de células-tronco, na fase que não há vestígio de sistema nervoso, em doentes que têm a vida ameaçada por males sem esperança?”
Aí está a real questão. Por que não aliviar milhares de pessoas de dores insuportáveis, deformações absurdas, enfermidades esdrúxulas em favor de cabeças que não acompanham os tempos?
Concordo que não podemos mudar o destino que cada um tem nessa vida, mas se não for para ser, não haverá célula-tronco que mude o seu destino.
Então não custa tentar.
É assim que chegam a nós os avanços tecnológicos. Na tentativa de ter o melhor para todos.
É assim que funciona o avanço científico.
Já imaginaram se não aceitássemos a mudança dos tempos e não fizéssemos uso da penicilina, dos antibióticos de última geração, dos coquetéis para o tratamento da AIDS…
Até onde sei, o projeto para o emprego de células-tronco embrionárias será feito a partir do uso de embriões humanos que são descartados (inviáveis para a implantação) nas clínicas de reprodução assistida.
Eles não serão mesmo implantados para uma gestação, então por que não utilizá-los na tentativa da cura para tantas doenças em seres que já existem e penam com enfermidades?
Não é um caso a ser pensado?
